A quite spectacular design and condition, one of the best early ones we have seen in over 30 years.
The weavers in Bakshaish, north Persia used the influences of tribal weavers from the Caucasian villages in their designs. These rustic carpets are often a very similar in colour to that of neighbouring Heriz and Serapi carpets and rugs. The early pieces such as this will always have more muted dyes purely down to their age, the natural yellows and variety of rust reds are only seen in carpets of this vintage.
We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire, the UK & Europe by appointment. Please request a home visit to view this remarkable early Baskshaish carpet in-situ.
